How Do I Create a Custom Food or Ingredient?

When a food or ingredient is not available in the Foodzilla database, you can create your own and use it in recipes and meal plans.

1. Navigate to the "Food Databases" Tab

   • Click on the "Create Food" button at the top right corner.

   • Complete the required information

     Add the Basic Details

     • Food name

     • Total energy

     • Total protein

     • Total carbohydrates

     • Total fat

     You can also add optional information such as:

     • Brand

     • Ingredient list

     • Allergens

     Note: Ensure all data is based on a 100 grams measurement to maintain accurate nutrition calculations in recipes.

     Add Additional Nutrition Information

     Open the Additional Nutrition tab to enter more detailed nutrition values, including:

     • Saturated fat

     • Trans fat

     • Monounsaturated fat

     • Polyunsaturated fat

     • Cholesterol

     • Vitamins

     • Minerals

     • Other available nutrients

     Only enter the values you have available.

     
     

     Add Custom Measurements

     You can create measurements such as:

     • 1 cup

     • 1 tablespoon

     • 1 piece

     • 1 serving

     • Any custom number and unit

     The first custom measurement you add can also become the Base Measurement instead of the default 100 g measurement.

     Custom measurements will appear in the measurement list for you and your clients.

     
     

   • Click Save Food after entering the required information.

     Your custom food will be added to your organisation’s food database and will be available to your team and clients.

Finding Your New Foods and Ingredients

• All new ingredients you create are stored in a separate database collection accessible only to your team and clients.

• Custom foods can be accessed from:

  - The Food Databases page

  - The ingredient search when creating or editing recipes

  - Food search when building meal plans

  When searching, select your organisation’s database from the database menu, then search for the food name.

  You can then add the food to recipes, meal plans, or client food logs like any other database item.

By following these steps, you can effortlessly create and utilize new ingredients in your recipes, ensuring your database is comprehensive and tailored to your needs. 🥳
