Create Custom Recipes

Foodzilla lets you create recipes with detailed ingredients, cooking instructions, labels, images, and automatic nutrition analysis.

Start a New Recipe

  1. Go to Recipes
  2. Click New Recipe

    Add the recipe details

The interface has two main columns:

    • Left Column: Upload a photo of the recipe, customize preparation time, serving size, cooking instructions, ingredients, and quantities.
    • Right Column: Preview the total nutritional information as you add ingredients and adjust their quantities. The nutrition panel updates automatically as ingredients and quantities are added.
  3. Click Save Recipe when finished

Adding Ingredients

Open the Ingredients tab and choose how you want to enter the recipe.

  1. Use Foodzilla Data

Select Use Foodzilla Data, then click Add Ingredients.

You can:

  1. Search for an ingredient
  2. Select one or more matching foods
  3. Adjust the quantity and measurement
  4. Click Add Ingredients

Foodzilla uses the selected food data to calculate the recipe’s calories, macros, vitamins, and minerals.

Available measurements depend on the selected ingredient and may include grams, ounces, cups, tablespoons, or other common serving sizes.

  1. Use Your Own Data

Select Use My Own Data when you want to enter your own ingredient and nutrition information instead of using a Foodzilla database item.

  1. Bulk Add Ingredients

Use Bulk Add to enter several ingredients at once.

  1. Click Bulk Add
  2. Type or paste one ingredient per line
  3. Include the quantity and unit where possible
  4. Click Match Ingredients
  5. Review the matched foods and measurements
  6. Confirm the ingredients you want to add

For example:

1 cup rolled oats

2 tbsp peanut butter

1 banana

200 g Greek yoghurt

Foodzilla automatically matches each line with an item from the food database and imports the available nutrition information.

Including clear quantities and units gives you more accurate matches.
