Source of Nutrition Data

The nutrition information in Foodzilla comes from publicly available food composition databases authored by national health authorities or food manufacturers.

National Food Databases

We currently offer data from the following countries:

  • New Zealand: Food Composition DB - FSANZ
  • United Kingdom: CoFiD
  • Australia: Food Composition DB - FSANZ
  • United States: USDA and Branded Products
  • Canada - CNF
  • Portugal - TCA

Measurement Standards:

  • Data is provided per 100 grams or ml, depending on whether the food is solid or liquid.
  • Common measurements such as cup, tablespoon, pinch, handful, and floret are also available from these databases.

Note: Only certified authorities provide the data for national databases. Users cannot add, change, or remove any nutrition data in these databases. Dietitians and nutrition professionals can create their own custom food databases but cannot alter national database data.

Food Suppliers Databases

We provide databases from the following food suppliers:

  • Local food supermarkets in each region (NZ, AU, UK, US)

Accuracy:

  • The data is captured from manufacturers' labels/websites and is provided as-is.
  • Accuracy is not guaranteed as it is not measured by a government or health agency. Refer to the manufacturer's website for more details.

Custom Food Databases

Professionals using the Foodzilla platform can create their own food databases, which are only available to them and their clients. These custom foods can be used in recipes and meal plans.
